Standout Quotes from Doctor TK:
- “It was because I was working at the juvenile correctional facilities that I started to receive a lot of referrals in the community for adolescents that nobody else wanted to work with or deal with, unfortunately. That led me to doing workshops, so I’m kind of weaving in streams of income if you notice. Because I was referred to a kid from another therapist that wasn’t a good match, and I was doing therapy, I started getting multiple referrals for the same type of kids but then I started paying attention to my caseload. My caseload had an underlying commonality which was that a lot of them were getting prepared to go to college, potentially moving out of their parents’ home and none of them were prepared to become an adult. Now luckily for them, this is something that I was teaching my clients in the jail system coz they were exiting out as adults now.”[09:14]
- “Another thing that I did as far as strength is, remember I said I like to work with couples, conjoined therapy. So, what I did as another stream of income is I saw a need for structure for my couples clients to go through, for example, premarital services and communicate on a mature level. So, what ends up happening is that birthed my first book.” [12:45]
- “From working with clients, seeing a commonality with what their needs were, I started to create multiple streams of income like groups, books, workbooks, workshops, and then I started to be invited on certain platforms to speak.” [14:01]
