Wednesday Aug 18, 2021
Wednesday Aug 18, 2021
As a licensed professional counselor, Dr. Tracy’s intention is to transform counseling sessions and provide a safe space for people to have conversations. Being a pastor’s wife can be tricky, but she eventually developed methods in setting boundaries with clients in her congregation while creating a no-judgment zone for ones with diverse backgrounds.
Also, her husband is so passionate about her career that they partnered together in a weekly show aiming to help people build relationships and understand the need for counseling. But there’s one thing she’s about to discuss, what was her secret for doing an exceptional job in the EAP game?
In this episode, Dr. Tracy shares her approach to providing therapy and educating people on the importance of mental health and EAP services. Furthermore, she describes how the Dope Therapist Academy and Elite Coaching Mastermind have made a difference in her business and mindset.

Standout Quotes from Dr. Tracy:
- "For me, I try not to approach therapy with any type of umbrella of religion or spirituality until my clients bring it up. And when they bring it up, we walk through that door together. And so I try to create a zone where there's no judgment, and as they walk into that door, whether they are the LGBTQ+ community or they are different religion from what I practice, the first environment I create is that emotionally safe environment." (08:23)
- "And so because I've given them the information, and again we're having conversations together as counseling, I've not had a client yet who stopped before their EAP sessions were over." (16:56)
- "When I started this whole process with you, I would've been just like, oh okay that's a number? Oh okay. I didn't even know what that meant but okay. But now I understand the numbers behind the numbers. I understand where I got the number. I understand the importance of knowing my numbers. I even understand the importance of knowing where my referrals are coming from." (25:13)
Standout Quotes from Doctor TK:
- "On the therapist's side, you do wanna set up boundaries with any entity, organization, or community setting that you are always involved in so that if someone does come to seek you up for counseling, you have to decide how those boundaries are going to be set up and communicate that to the potential client. Then on the client's side, recognize and respect the boundary." (11:42)
- "Clients, as Dr. Tracy is saying, you can actually go talk to your employer and find out about your EAP services, how many sessions you got, what's the name of the panel, and take that back to the therapist and say hey, I have EAP, do you take this panel? Would you mind getting on it? It's a lot of us that want therapy." (20:31)
